ABO Capital made the following announcement on April 16:

ABO Capital, a leading international investment firm headquartered in Angola, announced today that its CEO Zandre Campos spoke at the13th German-Africa Energy Forum on March 28th for Dialogue Session: Financing and Insuring Energy Projects in Africa.

During the session Mr. Campos discussed why renewable energy is important in Africa, “there is an increasing world population, which means an increasing demand for energy. In addition, there is an obligation to reduce emissions. Currently only about 4% of our primary energy consumption is renewable energy. However, we must find ways to increase that share and use renewable energy to power our entire continent.”

Mr. Campos also shared one of ABO’s current investment projects in the energy sector, which is a company called Uncharted Play. Uncharted Play and its patented M.O.R.E. technology (motion – cased, off- grid, renewable energy), has the ability to harness the most under-utilized energy source in the world – kinetic energy – by placing customized micro generators within products that people use every day. Mr. Campos believes that Uncharted Play is an example of the type of innovation that people should work together to achieve.

“Germany is known as one of the biggest supplies in the world and I have seen a lot of electric equipment for renewable energy produced in Germany. I think this makes it a natural partnership and believe together we can light up all of Africa,” added Mr. Campos.

The 13th German-Africa Energy Forum was held in Hamburg, Germany on March 27- 28. It is the most important platform for the European African energy business in Germany, which has attracted nearly 4,000 participants and 52 African delegates since 2006. The annual event focuses on the financing of energy projects on the African continent. In addition to new financing opportunities, e.g. within the context of the G20 Compact with Africa, innovative approaches for financing off-grid projects and financing partnerships, the conference also focuses on digitalization in the energy sector, renewable energies such as hydropower and hybrid systems, and the thermal recycling of waste.
