Angolan President Joao Lourenco and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are discussing in Sochi Thursday the deepening of "economic cooperation" between the two countries.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, one of the main topics of discussions between the two heads of state, is the trade and economic cooperation of Russia and Angola, with greater emphasis on diamond extraction.
Klemlin spokesman Yuri Ushakov said the turnover between Russia and Angola has increased 42% in the last seven months to $ 34.8 million.
Meanwhile, Ushakov recalled that Russian company Alrosa is co-founder of Angola's premier diamond mining company “Catoca” - and revealed that the two countries are developing a “geology and mining cooperation program by 2025”.
As part of the Russia-Africa summit, according to a note from the Angolan President's Civil House, “the presidential mission in Russia includes the signing of protocols in various fields, the training of cadres and the implementation of a fertilizer industry in Angola”.
