Issued the following announcement on Jan. 4.
A nationwide mass registration and issuing of identity cards campaign held in seven months has allowed two million citizens to be registered with Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, an official source told Angop last Monday in Luanda.
The ministerial department also said that one million Angolan citizens obtained the Identity Card.
This is a result of investments made by the sector, in technical and human terms, as part of the current management strategy for computer solutions, the source noted.
The document, produced ahead of celebration of Angolan Identifier Day, marked on Tuesday (5), states that the date should serve as a reflection on the performance of the Ministry in terms of achievements and plans.
Signed by the incumbent minister, Francisco Queiroz, the document also highlights the main achievements of the most recent deeds.
It referred to the construction and start-up of the ID production center in Luanda, with a capacity to issue 20,000 ID/day, and dissemination of service throughout the country and abroad (Portugal, France, Namibia, South Africa and Zambia).
January 5 was set as the day of Angolan identifier in 1976.
